Dear Editor,
This morning, I went to my daughter’s primary school to watch their production of “Around the World in 80 Days”.
I have to say, despite the amount of rehearsal that appeared to go into this, it was f**cking shit!
I could barely hear a word that was said, as most of the ‘actors’ appeared to mumble their way through the script.
One says script – it’s quite possible they never had one, due to the sheer number of times they forgot their lines. Indeed, one member of the cast started crying and another had to be taken to the toilet. This is an appalling lack of professionalism.
At the end of 40 very long minutes (It felt like 80 days !!) the audience erupted into applause, which was quite simply undeserved and in my opinion embarrassing.
I voiced my views to the headteacher of the school and as a result I have now been banned from attending any future event at the school.
How is a production supposed to evolve and improve, if people are not allowed to give a critical opinion?
Regards,
